8th Jan 2006 is my Great Grandma's birthday, she is 88th this year. Guess what.... she has 23 Great Grandchildren as of today...more to come this year, one of it is my little younger brother...NOw I understand what is sowing and reaping.

Pepsi VS Coke
Pepsi owns Lay's Potato Chips, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC, Hot n' Now, Chevys, California Pizza Kitchen, DIAngelo Sandwich Shop and East Side Mario's. Total 24,000 restaurants, largest restaurant owner in the world. In comparison, McDonald's has only 14,000 restaurants.

In drink's department, Pepsi owns Pepsi Cola, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Pepsi XL, Mountain Dew, 7-up, Slice, All Sport & Lipton Tea.

Coke is only a beverage company.

PepsiCo is worth US$44 billion, Coke is worth twice as much at US$93 billion.

Pepsi's philosophy - all over the world ASAP. Coke mission: To be #1 in America. 1st America then the whole world. That is the power of focus.

Pepsi - 24,000 restaurants. Make US$400 million annual profit. Estimated combined value of US$10 billion.
McDonald - 14,000 restaurants. Make US$1.1 billion annual profit. Worth US$31 billion.

The smaller, more focused company is worth 3 times as much as the larger, less focused company.

To establish HIs purpose as your focus, you must do 3 things:

1. Build on your strength.
All olympic champions have 1 thing in common - focusing their strength on doing the things they are naturally good at doing.

2. Build on your distinctive.
Do things that u have a natural talent for and u are gifted in, u will stay excited, passionate & energetic.

3. Build on your revelation.
Ask yourself: "What has God shown me about my life assignment?" Once God shows it to you, you must pray for the grace of God to stay faithful to it.

KEY #1: DON'T GET DISTRACTED BY INTERIM SUCCESSES
You have some small successes & u begin to develop the "winning feeling".

By 1998, HP was 11th largest co in the US. Revenue US$80 billion/yr. HP hired Carly Fiorina. HP's stock is now down 50%, and in 2004, it ranked #28 in the Fortune 500. Expectedly, Fiorina was fired in Dec that yr. HP got distracted by their own successes in the late 1990s. HP was the world-leader & superstar of printing & imaging. Printing biz alone brings in a net profit of US$4 billion a yr.

Then HP started losing its focus & started thinking that it could do everything. It started producing digital cameras, PC, high-end corporate computing & music digital players. Dec 04 Business Week, stated that apart from its printing division, all HP's businesses are valued at next to NOTHING.

KEY #2: DON'T GET DISTRACTED BY YOUR COMPETITION
In 1994, Netscape opened up the internet to the whole world and went public 16 mths later. Then Netscape got distracted by competition.

Bill Gate came up with Internet Explorer and incorporate it into their own Windows operating system, giving MS huge advantage over other browsers. That caused Netscape to become very obsessed with fighting Microsoft, suing Microsoft. Instead of channeling their passion into making their own product better, they put all their energy into shutting Microsoft down. In 1999, Netscape was exhausted and depleted of all its vision and sold to AOL.

KEY #3: DON'T GET DISTRACTED BY THE PAIN OF LIFE.
What kinds of pain can distract us from our calling and life assignment? Here are some eg of the pain Jesus had to endure:

1. The pain of discipline
2. The pain of separation from friends
3. The pain of disappointment
4. The pain of obedience
5. The pain of accusation

Is something or someone distracting u from God's purpose for your life? Is your focus blurred or blocked? It is time to refocus. Press forward to the goal and prize Christ has set before you. Don't take another step or waste another minute listening to someone or doing something that isn't sharply in focus and lined up with God's will for u. Start building today on what God has given u - your strength, distinctive and revelation. Focus on Christ! Remember this wisdom from Solomon:

Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Pro 4:25-26
